A Quick Guide to A Business Trip in Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur’s city centre is a lifestyle hub which thrives on accessibility, making it the ideal location for business travellers to book a stay in – you’ll get essentially everything you need from money exchange services to a variety of food and beverages.

To ensure the best out of your stay, here’s a quick guide on what you need to know about staying within the city during a business trip.

Public Transport

Trains are one of the most well-loved forms of transportation in Malaysia as the lines conveniently connect to major areas. Besides avoiding traffic congestion, you can easily explore different areas just like a local in your free time.

The largest transit hub, where all the train lines meet, is KL Sentral. KL Sentral links commuters to all urban and suburban residential areas, as well as commercial and industrial districts through different train lines. To get there, you can take a train from any nearby station and find a connecting line- Ampang LRT station, which is short walk from our hotel, connects directly to KL Sentral, among other LRT, MRT and KTM lines.

Money Services

Those travelling from foreign countries understand the hassle of having to locate a currency exchange or a bank that manages foreign cash. There are various currency exchange outlets nearby within the malls including KLCC and Avenue K, which are both a 7-minute walk away from our hotel.

There are also various banks nearby – Maybank, Citibank, Bank of China, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, CIMB Bank, as well as Public Bank which shares the same lot as InterContinental Kuala Lumpur.

For those opting to send and receive funds from overseas, Western Union is the common choice for such banking activities - the nearest Western Union is located in KLCC. Additionally, nearby banks such as Maybank offer Western Union services as well.

Food & Beverage

A great advantage of staying within the city is that you’ll have an abundance of food choices from local delights to western culinary fusions. If you’re looking to step outside from the usual hotel restaurants, there are various options within the city centre to satisfy your cravings.

Both KLCC and Avenue K offer a vast food court with various food selections, as well as signature coffee shops and eateries. You can also unwind with a beverage menu at the nearby bars after a long day of work – just take a walk around and it’s likely you’ll stumble upon a few bars offering a cold glass of beer or cocktails.

For those looking to step outside the comfort of the malls, Tapak Urban Street Dining might be your cup of tea. Located in Jalan

Ampang, it is the land of food trucks which caters both local and international delicacies within more than 30 parked food trucks.

Shopping

If you have time to squeeze in your schedule to shop for souvenirs, clothes or any necessities you may need, the city centre is known as a shopping hub. The nearby shopping malls offer everything you may need from clothing, sporting items to pharmaceutical products.

However, if you are keen on venturing slightly further, the famous shopping strip of Bukit Bintang, which lines up a bevvy of great shopping malls and outlets, is approximately 3km away from the hotel and accessible by train.
